Glock 19 Review

One of the most popular 9mm handguns in the United States of America is the Glock 19. The Glock 19 justifies that claim with its popularity in public and private security firms around the globe. The Gen 4 is the revolutionary new chapter in the Glock 19 saga, and it is reliable, accurate, easy to maintain, and very reasonably priced.

The Glock 19 Gen 4, more than anything else, is a massive improvement on the traditionally ugly look of Glocks. It is well proportioned at 6.85 inches long, and has no palm swell which keeps it good looking. It incorporates the new rough texture technology common to all Glock Gen 4 models. The Rough Texture Finish has been tested in real world applications and provides a much better grip in undesirable or adverse conditions.

The Glock 19 includes the Modular Back Strap design which allows you to customize the grip of your Glock and adapt it to your hand size. The handle retains the finger grooves of the Gen 3 models, and can be enlarged with the addition of medium or large palm swells. The Glock 19 Gen 4 can also be easily accommodated for left or right handed shooters, with the reversible enlarged magazine catch that can be changed within seconds.

The Gen 4 model comes equipped with a dual captive recoil spring that is alleged to increase the lifetime of the system and to rectify some of the reliability issues. The trigger, though not great and slightly heavy, is still pretty good with a tactile and audible trigger reset.

As far as accuracy and reliability go, the Glock 19 Gen 4 is as good as any Glock has ever been. Even though there were problems initially with the Gen 4 weapons, they seem fixed now and the Glock 19 performs admirably with 100% reliability. For a weapon intended to be used in self-defense, it is perfectly accurate as well. What makes it completely awesome though is how easily it can be concealed considering its relative size and amount of firepower on board.

Glock markets its weapons as 'Perfection' and though earlier models might just have failed to live up to the hype, the Glock 19 Gen 4 comes as close as a handgun can to perfection. There are still a few things Glock could do to further improve upon a great weapon, such as introduce metal sights and improve the mag release, but all in all, the Glock 19 Gen 4 is a wonderfully reliable and accurate handgun.
